so confused -_-; I want an International Relations degree but UCSD doesn't offer it except as Political Science with International Relations track. On the other hand, International Studies seem like the degree I wanted, but I don't get why it's called 'studies'... I heard any degree with the word 'studies' in it is a flop degree...

I am the same major for you. At UCSB/UCR it’s called Global Studies. At UCD it’s International Relations. At UCI/UCSD It’s called international studies. As far as the more specific international studies at UCSD goes, it’s merely a subsection of the major (I think). Although all these majors will be slightly different between schools, it’s expected because after all they are different schools.

Good luck!!

Ps I heard David has a great program. Although I haven’t heard as much from UCSD I think I saw somewhere that it’s a really good IR school too.

I’m a Poli Sci IR major at UCSD and the IR portion is pretty mild. I’ll leave her having only taken five IR classes I think. You end up taking a bunch of generic poli classes for the most part.

@SFKid - lol yeah I was quoting what I read somewhere @Talludwig - can’t they just stick with a generic term?! lol but thank you! @Grimes - exactly what I needed to know. That tells me that the Poli Sci IR isn’t what I want.

It’s rediculous that San Diego and other schools do that in my opinion. There’s a Intenational Studies–Political Science major and a Political Science(International Relations) major. Rediculous

Btw thelurk, what language are you studying for the major? And we’re will you study abroad. Do you mind emailing me since we are the same major? andrew.ludwig91@**********

hey. i’m a second year at ucsd trying to decide if i should major in international studies-poli sci or poli sci (general or international studies). i haven’t taken an international studies class here at ucsd yet so i’m not really sure if that’s really what i want to do. i feel like i should because poli sci is kind of boring and isn’t something i’m too excited about in the first place. but i don’t know if international studies is what i want to do either…kinda undecided but need to decide asap. do yall know which one is considered more prestigious, or are they about the same? also what is the difference between intl–poli sci and poli sci–intl? thanks
