I want to transfer to UCSD in for winter 2010 with a TAG but I have a lot of courses to finish for my major (Math 1C, 1D; Physics series, OChem Series)x_x. Will this effect my chances of getting in? Also, do i have to fulfill the undergrad courses for a specific college before I transfer? I'm a bio major btw..

I’m missing a couple pre-reqs for Psychology (impacted major) and I got into UCSD for Fall '09.

But Biology…not sure. :X

Good luck!

SD’s pretty lenient about not finishing prereqs. The ochem series is actually considered upper division classes for a bio major (I know this because a UCSD counselor told me this when I went down there 2 weeks ago), so not finishing it will probably NOT hurt your chances. I mean… they let people with only 2 prereqs (out of all of 15 or something of them) switch into biology, so why would they be so stringent on you? Also, MANY bio majors have to continue finishing lower division prereqs when they transfer in the fall so I’m sure you will be fine. Trust me.

Just get into SD first…
and then finish your remaining lower-division prereqs. there… it’ll prep you better for med school anyway since the classes are so much harder. just my 2 cents!

They just released the new TAG for Winter 2010 that now requires you to have your 90 units and IGETC completed by the Summer quarter instead of Fall. That probably screws a lot of people…

oh wow I never knew ochem was an upper division course… I thought all CCs are only lower division courses…

If I have 85 units but took ap bio (scored 4) and ap lang (3) tests do I get units?

Whats your major?

When they admit people they look at what your GPA is in classes that are required for your major and how many of the pre-req classes you have taken. They weigh those pretty equally from what I understand.

they only care a lot if its an impacted major, and since bio isn’t impacted yet, you don’t need to do all of them

i’m a bio major and i only did 9/12 of them. i know others who did 5/12 and 7/12

thanksss:)

i got in as a bio major missing physics series and calc3. as long as you finish tag, i think you should be ok.
