Has anyone recieved a rejection from the UCSD Med Scholars Program?

The invitations to interview were supposed to come out Friday (the 4th) but when I called them, they said that they would be released on Firday or Monday (the 7th), so I was just wondering.

I got a phone call for an interview today. I was called at 2:35 right when school ended. Interview is this Saturday at around 8:00 AM. The lady said she's gonna email me all the details (still waiting for it).

i didnt noe that the regular med scholars program interviews were so late.
i interviewed/was accepted for the caltech-ucsd med scholars program (im outta state so i couldnt do this program). i know the caltech-ucsd med scholars didnt get notification for the interview until 10 days after we were suppose to be notified. tho i did get my acceptance letter/email 3 days after my interview, which i appreciated. but perhaps they do things differently with each program. anyways good luck to you all!

GOMEZ: What's with the Paterno? what does that mean? And sorry, but PSU-Jeff isnt for me. I love the shortened time span, but in the grand scheme of things, the brand name from NU HPME will definetly outweigh the extra year I'll save at PSU. =D. HPME FTW!!!!!

DEATHLYHOLLOWS: You're right. I have definetly decided on NU HPME, but my parents still want me to interview with SD, because its closer to home. They like NU better too (cuz for 8 years, i can get 3 degrees there), but they told me to go to the SD interview, just to see if I could get in =P

and.. you're right about another thing... who doesnt love purple? ;)

What is the process to apply for UCSD Med Scholars?
I heard that there are no applications, but UCSD only send out the invitation to promissing students!

Oh man,
Only a year (or maybe a few more) of Joe Paterno football!
If you go to Penn State, you can see Paterno and be a Prog, too!
(Now who wouldn't want to be a Prog?)

GOMEZ: o i c. well, I'd rather be a HPME ("hupmeeeee") than a Prog... lol ;)

INGUYE02: the process for UCSD Med Scholars. Well, basically, if you are a CA resident, and you applied and got into UCSD and you have SAT > 2250 or ACT > 34 and a GPA > 4.0 (weighted) then you get an application from them via email. You don't have to demonstrate an interest in medicine on your initial UC application or indicate anything of the sort. To get the application for med scholars, you just have to meet the objective, score and grade requirements. The application itself consists of some biographical info and ONE essay (if you applied to any other combined med programs, you can reuse old essays cuz the UCSD Med scholars essay is basically along the lines of "why do you want to be a doctor"). Hope this helps!!

angad19, i got into hpme this year and will be going!

i don't mean to interrupt this thread, but angad 19, how will you be deciding where to live next year (dorm-wise)? also, are you going to preview NU?

i am not going to preview NU day... its too far for me (i live in CA)

also, i have NO idea how i'm gonna decide on dorms/dorm-mates.. i really dont know.. i'll just figure it out when the time comes (mid-may)

also, btw, what is your real name? and, have you joined the group "HPME 2015!" on facebook, cuz i think it would be easier if we talked on there. if you dont wanna reveal your name on CC, just send me a facebook message on my wall or w/e. I'm Angad in the HPME group. You can find me easily there.

Hey deathlyhollows,
Are you going to Penn St-Jefferson?
You can see Joe Paterno and be a Nittany Lion, not just an ordinary Wildcat.
Maybe if you go, so will angad.
