Hello everyone,
I was looking at UCSD’s online math practice exam and saw that there are two options MR (Mathematical Analysis Readiness test) and the CR (Calculus Readiness test). I was wondering if actual MPE test has questions from both of those tests or if it has questions from one or the other.
Or are they individual tests and we choose which one to take? I’m a little confused about it and will be taking it soon, though I’m not sure how I’ll know which one I’ll be taking.
I’m also curious to know how difficult it is to switch from a non-capped major into a capped one?
Any help is appreciated!
Don’t know anything about the math placement exam, but as far as I know there’s only one.
Regarding non-capped to capped, it really depends on the major you’re transferring into and varies from quarter to quarter. For example, environmental engineering will likely be easier to get into than bioengineering (not a slight toward EnvE, just a fact). Similarly, a 3.7+ in the prerequisite courses is usually considered good enough to get into CSE, but last quarter only a 4.0 on the nose would get you in. It’ll be more difficult to accurately gauge your chances for a recently capped major such as math, econ, or biology.
