UCSD off campus housing

Anyone whose admitted to UCSD thinking of renting an apartment/house in la jolla? Transfer housing is beginning to look less and less appealing. It's just too expensive and probably not worth it.

ME, if i dont get through UCLA.

I agree, I don’t know if the transfer housing is the best option. I’ve looked online and there seems to be a lot of nice apartments near campus. But I don’t know how to go about finding a roomate.

kings13 - use craigslist.

Can you grow weed in tijuana?

Anyone want to like find some people and straight up split a 3 bed room house or something(600 something a month per room)? I don’t feel like splitting a room with some stranger.

EDIT: Actually it’s possible to get it for 500 something a room, not bad at all!

I’m getting an apartment with my gf that’s only like a mile away from the campus. There’s a free UCSD shuttle that comes around every 15 minutes with a stop right outside the complex, but it’s going to be pretty expensive (it’s comparable to the price if you were to live on campus in the transfer dorms though). The thing that kind of sucks is that we’ve heard you might have to start renting in June or July if you want to get an apartment because they will fill up pretty fast.

Really?? That’s kind of lame…I still have to go to summer school down at Mesa…

sstory i’ll be doing the same thing as you if i don’t get into UCLA.

so, whos down to rent a house with me!

I’m down. Though this having to rent early thing is bothering me. That’s like 2-3 months of rent gone to waste.

I might do that, if me and my friend can’t get a dorm on campus…

I was going to do the same thing sstory was but she didn’t get in. ={

Does anyone know if transfers HAVE to apply for transfer housing or can we get into the other dorms on campus?

You can not get in the other dorms on campus.

Really? Even if one of the current students request us as a roommate?

If not that sucks! >_<

Idk man, I doubt it. Ask them though, doesn’t hurt to try. Why would you wanna live on campus anyways? Apartments are fine but on campus dorms? Sounds like a horrifying experience.

Because, I figure I should give the whole dorm experience a shot… By staying home I feel like I’ve missed out on it. All my friends keep telling me about it…so I’m curious.

They don’t let you drink in the dorms you know

yeah, I’m not a big drinker anyways…never have been.

they dont let u smoke either =0. and yes I would be down to rent a house if i don’t get into Irvine and have to go here.

Tekierz–I’m totally with you. I feel like if I want to fully immerse myself in the campus, I need to stay in the dorms. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and now here’s my shot at doing it. I’m not a big drinker anyways. XD
