I am planning on going to UCSD as a transfer next year and will most likely live in the transfer housing. (Btw are those looking any closer to being done?) I was just wondering how hard it is to get a parking permit when you live on campus and how much it costs per year.

Anyone can buy a parking permit, it’s just the number of spots are limited. Not everyone who buys a parking permit is guaranteed a spot.
This year it was around $530 for the academic year.

u mean u dont get a spot if you live on campus?

It’s not a system where you pay your money and they assign you a numbered spot. There are parking lots all over campus and if you live on campus it’s easy to park at night, you just park in any of the ‘S’ (undergrad student) spots. But if you leave during the day (around 10 AM-2 PM) the lots get full and your spot likely won’t be there when you get back. Does that make more sense…?

thanks ^ ^
