UCSD or cornell for undergrad bioengineering

Right now, im choosing between UCSD and cornell for bioengineering. Overall, cornell is ranked higher as an engineering school, but UCSD is ranked higher in the biomed eningeeing feild.
Which school to choose?

Would you pay in-state tuition for UCSD?

I would be paying instate tuition

UCSD hands down. I’d say that if they were the same price. While for most majors I’d choose Cornell and like it better for the college experience, it’s impossible to beat SD for BME unless you have a Stanford admit in hand. The internships, industry participation and access to the US biotech headquarters is all unbeatable at SD.

I wonder if people even know what they are talking about. Go to cornell as hmom said it will have a better college experience, which is a good thing. Cornell is more prestigious overall and you will have strong peers in many fields there. It’s not as though ucsd will make you more marketable for internships… in my opinion (as someone who is finishing a bioe degree). Odds are you will need a graduate degree in the long run if you want to do something interesting in bioe.

At SD you will have year round research and internships few schools can touch. SD has a unique partnership with the biotech industry which is headquartered in SD. There is a huge amount of funding as a result of this partnership and SD students are on the front lines of industry reserch and developments. The only school that has anything similar is Stanford.

I would absolutely be recommending Cornell and many other schools above UCSD for anything else.
