UCSD or UCI

^
Apply to honors programs! They help differentiate you, and you get pretty foil on your diploma! Double whammy!

i feel exactly the same way as you do rdtg. UCLA is my first choice but in case i don't get in i want to find out about the other schools

I agree with aebeys. I think you have good advice UCLAri, but I think it would be better for freshmen. I want to go to UCLA the most because of the "feel" of the college, and it just so happens that they have a great psych program with everything I want. I'm also dedicated to this field. I would just like to know whether UCSD or UCI is better ranked because if I don't get into LA, I'm basing my decision on which school has a better program, because the atmosphere of the school does not make a big difference to me (it's only two years) and I want to go to a school that will better prepare me, because heck, I want the best education I can get in psych to be prepared for grad school and so on. Grad school is a must for me because I want to be as knowledgeable as I can in this field. Blah, I need to stop. There's no reason for me to try to defend my decisions to a stranger (no offense at all UCLari). I'm just going to end up spilling my life story if I don't stop.

Nah, this stuff applies to transfers too. Trust me, I've been there. Once you get to a big school, everything changes. Or maybe I've been at UCLA too long. Either way, don't ever go with what USNews says. Ask around at various departments in the UCs and see what professors say, they know better.

Either way, your undergrad is not that big of a factor. As an undergrad, you do incredibly different work than as a grad.

I honestly believe that UCSD is an incredibly underranked school...but that's just me.

I'm going to do the honors program, definately. I've perused the UCLA catalog (okay, maybe I've gone through and picked out all the classes I wanted to take) and since you seem very well informed UCLAri, which would be a better route to take? A) Major in psych, minor in History or asian studies, concentration in applied developmental psych or B) Major in psych, minor in applied developmental psych. I know, I shouldn't be planning out my future at a college that hasn't accepted me yet, but I just like to plan things for fun.
