Hey guys,
Im tryna pick between UCLA and UCSD for Bioengineering and wanna hopefully do premed and go on to med school. I know UCSD has one of the best programs for bioe but I am still conflicted. I really wanna go to LA but I have heard mixed things about their bioe program. Anyone know anything about the LA program and/or in a similar situation?
I was waitlisted for UCLA bioE and accepted to UCSD biotech. I liked UCLA better but didn’t send in the waitlist, because UCSD’s bioengineering program blew me away on Triton Day (and continues to do so). This is the birthplace of bioengineering, with some of the world’s most renowned professors and motivated students. The Torrey Pines Mesa/Sorrento Valley area just north of campus is the second largest biotech hub in the country. I’m also a premed, and there’s great opportunities for premeds at both schools, but UCSD’s bioengineering program blows most others out of the water. If I’m not wrong, UCLA didn’t even get accredited for BE until 2013–forty years after YC Fung came to La Jolla.
