<p>I know there are a lot of these threads, but I wanted to get some opinions on my specific situation. I've been accepted to both schools and I'm having a really tough time deciding between the two.</p>
<p>Obviously SD is ranked higher than SB, and my parents are rather concerned with that. Will the rankings really make a difference when I apply for law school or a future job?</p>
<p>I'm going to major in Business Economics - Accounting Emphasis at SB, which I've heard is a very good program. I'd like to do accounting at SD as well, but since they don't have an accounting major, I'd likely choose some hopefully practical humanities major (at ERC). So nothing science-y that SD would be really great for. For any SD students, how are the humanities majors? Any SB accounting students who'd like to share how their experience has been?</p>
<p>My long-term goal is to eventually get into a top tier law school, so I want to maintain at least a 3.6, 3.7 GPA, preferably higher. At which school would I have a higher chance of getting a good GPA? It seems like SB would be easier if only because it's ranked lower academically, but I'm wondering is a party-centric atmosphere would influence me poorly. Also, my parents have the notion that being surrounded by more studious types and less social events at SD will give me a better work ethic. Any merit to this? And any statistics about how many people get into law school from either school would be extremely helpful as well--I looked all over and couldn't find anything.</p>
<p>I recently visited both campuses. I thought SD was nice, but I really, really liked SB. I feel like some of that might be because I went to SD during Triton Days with my parents, when all the actual students were away and the place was crawling with parents and students as clueless as I was, while I visited SB with friends on a school day and really got to experience the actual school surrounding area, but either way, I was impressed by SB and frankly bored by SD. </p>
<p>I am concerned with SB's reputation as a party school though. I'd like to be able to have fun and enjoy college with the entire college experience before real life starts and all that, but I've heard that some people transfer out of SB because it's just so hard to find an environment conducive to learning. Is this a legitimate concern? And I'm equally concerned with SD's reputation for being socially dead--the community of La Jolla and the lack of a real college town make it seem like it wouldn't be somewhere I'd like to live for four years.</p>
<p>Woww, long post. But yeah, any help would be greatly appreciated! Also, some convincing that I should get a say in this decision would be helpful as well--my parents seem adamant on choosing for me and it's frustrating as heck.</p>
