what is the acceptance rate of UCSD? and what kind of stats do you need to get in from out of state?

If you want to get into UCSD out of state you have to be a super-competitive applicant.

For fall 2009, the overall acceptance rate was 37.3%. 89% of all admits were in-state, so 11% of the admitted students were outside of California. Since it’s getting much harder to get in, as an OOS applicant you would need a GPA very close to or at 4.0, a 2000+ SAT score, and ridiculously good essays/ECs.

I’m out of state and was accepted to UCSD, here were my stats so you can have an idea of what kind of OOS students they’ll accept:

3.8 UW GPA
Weighted/California GPA: No clue, but I have B’s and A’s in all my AP Classes
AP Classes: AP US History (11th), AP Calc (11th), AP Bio (12th), AP Lit (12th), AP Gov (12th), AP Stats (12th)
1820 SAT
570 Math II Sat
680 US History SAT
Extracurriculars: Concertmistress of HS Orchestra, Captain for Swim and Tennis, State Qualifier in FBLA, Swim and Small Ensemble for Orchestra, Friendship Ambassador to Japan, Mission Trips to Mexico, Student Council/ASB all four years, Key Club all four years (served as VP)

Hope this helps! :]

a little late but I got in as an out of state applicant (and got denied from Berkeley & UCLA mind you)
4.1 GPA (I think 3.8 not weighed)
1710 SAT (Yeah i know WAYYYYY under the mark)
I was also:
Captain of the tennis team
President for the Pit Orchestra
President of the Jazz Band
President of the Jazz Combo
Section Leader/Drill Instructor for percussion in Marching Band
On Prom Committee
E-sports club
Ping pong club (this and the last one were jokes for the sake of resume building)
ALL honors societies (very important)
Spanish Club
History Club
Peer Tutors club
Lesson: if you fall short in a department (for me, SAT. WAYYYY short) make sure you make up for it with outstanding extracurriculars. This didn’t even mention summer internships, working, etc.
