Chose UCSD over UCLA in computer engineering. LA is really not my city. Dirty, traffic… It makes me a little dizzy everyday if driving to school.
From my view:
ranking(involves many weird factors, like staff/student ratio, % of pro. is full time…):
UCLA >= UCSD

but if just compare how good is the program:
UCSD >> UCLA
(in math, > means greater, >> means a lot greater)

might not be a fluke. one of my freshman roommates and i both chose ucsd over berkeley. that’s 2/3 right there. i never inquired about the rest of my suite though.

why would it have been a fluke?? bc its something you cant believe?? a lot of those kids are bioE kids too so they generally say thats one of the main reasons
for me it was a personal preference choice, but that also added to it

I chose UCSD over UCD, UCI w/ Regents (really tempting, it was almost a full ride), and Cal Poly SLO. Since I’m doing computer engineering, Cal was my first choice, but I have to say SD’s campus is way better. Their program isn’t bad either.

i chose ucsd over cal (and many other uc’s) because it was just the right fit. (didnt apply to ucla, didnt want to go anyway) and guess what! i not a science major. ooh!

As a transfer I picked UCSD for Molecular Biology over UCLA’s Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology major.

It was a very close call, I asked for an extension for the UCLA SIR twice and made my final decision in July. That said I’m pretty happy with my choice and there isn’t much discrepancy between the two Biology departments and imo, La Jolla >>> Westwood. Only thing I’d change about UCSD is I wish we had D1 sports teams, I’d love to be able to a college football game every week.
