I am currently a high school senior. I applied to UCSD for computer science. I was accepted into UCSD; however, I have been accepted as undeclared at Sixth College. I’m pretty set on going to UCSD even though I’ve been accepted as undeclared. My plan was to declare for CS again, but I’ve been informed that it is a lottery system and I know many who are wanting to switch over to CS. I have been considering to go on the path of being a pharmacist instead, but I’m not sure where to start and what to do. I have googled and looked around and haven’t found much useful information. I wanted to know what are the necessary steps needed to pursue a career in pharmacology.
It is most important that you research the pre-pharmacy requirements of the schools that interest you. The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy maintains the Pharmacy School Admissions Requirement (PSAR) which provides the admission requirements by individual schools and detailed information of each school.
Pharmacy programs generally require the following undergraduate coursework. Some schools may have additional requirements. Again it is important to check the requirements of each school you are considering to make sure you meet the course requirements.
1 year General Chemistry
1 year Organic Chemistry
1 year Biology with lab
1 course in Physiology
1 course in Microbiology
1 course in Statistics
2 courses in English
1 course in Econ
1 course in Speech
1 course in Sociology/Anthropology/Psychology

Other majors to consider would be Biochemistry and Microbiology which could fulfill all the necessary pre-req courses to apply to Pharmacy school.
