what is my chance of getting into the UCSD,
GPA:4.13
SAT I: 1650
SAT II: 540 math 2, 530 chemistry
ELC: yes
firs generation: yes
low income: below $30,000 a year
leadership: news editor

I think your test scores are low for UCSD. Did you check the freshmen profile on the UCSD website? Your GPA is good but did you take a lot of AP classes and how did you do in them? Also they only use 10-11th grade GPA. Good Luck

You would probably need to raise the SAT scores. Your GPA is about their average for admits, but their average SAT is about 2000, and average 'll scores are well into the 600s.

Here’s the deal. In your essay and other places in your UC app, you need to make it clear about family income, challenges, 1st generation, underperforning high school, etc.

You can get about 1,500 points in those diversity categories for UCSD. Last year the point cutoff was about 7,500 points on their formula scale. The real key is going to be whether the person reading your application is able to assign points to your file for each of the diversity/challenges categories.

Fill out the point scale yourself and see where you come out. The amount of points your adcom awards you for Accomplishments, etc. is hard to predict though.

(wait, i know that i have below the minimum average for the applicants, but does that mean that i will not be considered for ealuation? because it is a point system, so i hope so)
what would my score be for the incoming freshmen 2011 for UCSD

4130 for the GPA
2176 for the SATs
500 for courses
300 for ELC
300 for Low Income
300 for First Gen (not sure how many points you will get)
150 for Leadership (not sure if editor counts)
Not sure about about your special talents, did you get 1-3 place?
300 for Volunteer
First Gen and low income do not count as special challenges.
This places you at 8156 points which is really really good.
The cutoff of 2010 is espected to be around 7800.

wait, would frst generation to attend college, and low income, and english barrier, and immigrant, would all of this factor be consider personal challanges?

and for the Special talents/ achievements/ awards:, would i atleast get some pooints for it?

I think flash’s point count looks good. I would be cautiously optomistic if I were you. You might get some additional points beyond the 8156 for 4 years track (perhaps 100 pts.) … just don’t know nor have I read how the adcoms treat that category. On the other hand, you might not get the 150 Leadership points… your cushion is about 300 so losing 150 won’t matter.

No, you don’t get to double count low income, 1st Gen, etc as “special challenges”. They are already counted in the 8156.

Definitely in

I started a business online in 10th grade and made 60k, would that qualify me for the special talent/acheivement points?
