How do you rank UCSD's Biology, Physics, Math, Chemistry, Engineering, Business programs for undergrad in comparison to its peers in the nation?

For bioscience related field, I guess it is vey strong...

For undergrad, there really isn’t a comparison in terms of strength. All those rankings are for graduate programs and hardcore research. The only comparison you need is 1) Which do you like more? and 2) Current student experiences.

Though in terms of post-graduate research, our hard sciences are VERY strong, especially bioengineering. We don’t have a “business” undergrad department, only the Rady School of Management for professional school.

There’s no doubt that UCSD’s science programs are incredibly good. There is no Business major offered at UCSD. However, it does have a pretty strong Economics program and a Management Science program.

Like the other posters said, there’s no business major for undergrads (as far as I know, there’s only an Accounting minor through Rady). If you want to get practical coursework in business, UCSD is probably not the best place for you–the closest I would think would be taking a mix of Operations Research/Applied Stats if you want to become a business or financial analyst (or take harder maths if you want to get into analytical banking or actuarial sciences).

However, if business (academic) research is your thing (i.e., strategy, market modeling, behavioral finance, organizational behavior, etc.) is your thing, then UCSD is apparently good at that. I doubled in Math/Econ and Psychology, did a lot of research in both departments, and this impressed lots of adcomms at top business schools during Ph.D. interviews. I went from social sciences to business without ever taking a single “business” class throughout undergrad.
