UCSD questions

I got in to Thurgood Marshall College and was wondering if anyone one knows what the "writing intensive" GE requirement entails? Maybe its a stupid question, but what classes, exactly, would fulfill that?

2.And I know once I transfer I have to take 90 units to graduate, but does that mean 90 upper division units, or just 90 period? Meaning, I can take some lower division electives and have them count towards graduation, right?

Also, to minor in a subject, do you have to take all the lower division requirements as though you were going to major in it? For example, I am a history major, and would like to minor in anthropology if possible, so do I have to take all the prerequisites as though I was going to double major?

Do you have to take all the lower division courses before you can take any upper division, or does that vary by class?

When a prerequisite says "must have upper division standing," what does that mean? Just that you are either a junior or senior, or that you have completed all the lower division work in the major?

Thanks in advance. Any insight is appreciated!

bump… someone’s got to know?

1) You have to take a two quarter writing class called Dimensions of Culture that’s about race/law/identity in the U.S.

2) 90 total, between upper and lower division (most will be lower division.)

3) Don’t know about minors

4) Most upper division courses have pre-reqs. You can get authorization to take upper division courses, but you’d have to email your advisor.

5) Requires lower division work for that specific class, similar to what you have to go through in question 4.

Thank you so much Grimes99! Are you in Marshall, too?

Np. Nope, I’m in Sixth.
