Would anyone who got the Regents scholarship at UCSD like to comment their GPA, SAT/ACT, and other factors that helped you get the scholarship?

Thanks.

Thanks.

GPA u/w: 4.0 (through junior year. I didn’t do so well senior year… “senioritis” haha)
SAT: 2270

I think the main factor that helped me was the research that I did after my junior year, because it showed my passion for science & research. I also entered my project into the science fair and went pretty far with it.

Of course, I don’t know what the admissions people are really looking for… but I think something that shows that you are passionate about something and are actually doing something with your passion helps a lot!

Congratulations! What was your UC or weighted gpa?

GPA u/w: 4.0
UC GPA: 4.45 (highest possible at school)
SAT: 2390 (800w/800cr/790m)
SAT II: 740 USH 720 lit 710 Bio E

I did two separate internships, both in neuroscience (one at UCSD in junior year and one at a prestigious research institute nearby) that I’m assuming played a huge role, beyond my pure strength statistically. I’d agree, being passionate about your field, whatever that may be, and displaying excellence in that field is probably a better way to go then being well rounded.

My daughter
GPA: 4.0 UW
UC GPA: 4.41
ACT: 36
SAT: 800, 780, 760
Internship with non-profit, community service, awards in performing arts

Regents’ Scholar isn’t based on extracurricular activities at all. It’s all your GPA and your SAT scores a LITTLE bit. GPA’s should be incredibly high (unweighted and weighted) and your SAT should be at least 2100-2200.

Old thread but figured I’d add input for whoever chances upon this.
