Did anyone get the regent's scholarship for transfers? Where do you check? Do you have to apply for it separately?

Closed.

Question answered: [San Diego | UC Admissions](http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/paying-for-uc/scholarships/san-diego/index.html)

No transfers will receive regent’s scholarship. :(

Is this the case with just ucsd or all uc school?

Sent from my SGH-T999 using CC

Just San diego. [UCLA Financial Aid Office | CAL GRANTS | LOANS | WORK STUDY | SCHOLARSHIP | PELL GRANTS](http://www.fao.ucla.edu/uclascholarships/regents.html) for ucla. UCB is similar to ucla.

I believe UCD, UCSB, UCI, UCR, UCSC is similar they just pick 2-5% of the most qualified applicants for regents ( no need to interview/ apply afterwards)

UCSB doesn’t have transfer Regents Scholarships either. UCSC only gives out 50 and the majority go to freshman.

How do we explain this: [Scholarships for Entering Transfer Students](Scholarships for Entering Transfer Students)

? Seems we have contrary facts…

I called Financial Aid at UCSD and they are offering regents scholarships to transfer students this year. If you are admitted, when you click on financial aid on the admission screen it will say “regents”. There is no separate application. Good luck everyone!

Did anyone get Regents for UCSD? I didn’t see it for mine.

I clicked review my app, and clicked a link to financial aid page where it says they receive my cal grant app and estimates for the tuition. Is there supposed to be showing regents scholarship?

^ yes. I haven’t seen any transfer students who have so far been accepted state that they received the Regent’s Scholarship. I have seen Freshman admits say that they got the Regent’s. They have said that on the financial aid page it says that you have received a Regent’s Scholarship (if you have). I confirmed this on the phone with financial aid this morning, that we (transfers) would see it on our Financial Aid page. My decision is still pending so I’m waiting to hear on my admission. I am assuming that the Regent’s Scholars are in a later batch, since I haven’t seen any on the boards so far. My fingers are crossed, but I know it is only a very few people who get Regent’s (I have a 4.0 GPA, but that is no guarantee…)

thanks, I hope I will get it lol
good luck to your admission, you have far better GPA than any admitted people here I’ve seen, keep you hope up!

Thanks @andrenvq57! :)

Where would you see this “pending” status? I also have a 4.0, I’m sure GPA isn’t the only critera, but UCSD doesn’t read personal statements for transfers. So I’m guessing they are only looking at EC’s and GPA?

^ No… my entire admission is pending right now. I don’t know if I’ve been accepted yet. I wasn’t in the first batch of admissions. So when I go to the “my application” page it still says that my application is under review (pending), just like yours did before you were accepted. They don’t really reveal anywhere what they base the Regent’s on, they just say only the “top” 1 or 1.5% of transfers receive it. If you didn’t get it with a 4.0, that is exactly why I’m saying that my having a 4.0 GPA is no guarantee of getting the scholarship…

p.s. @Eviity: I looked at your stats. Yea, you shoulda gotten the Regent’s. It is like some weird secret equation that is used to determine who gets Regent’s. I’ve said from the beginning that it is a long shot, but a girl can dream…

and I’m sure they look at personal statements for the scholarship. It is a different process than just the admission process, and they are going to take everything into account…

I hope you get it! As much as I love UCSD, they didn’t give me good financial aid :(…

Wow, how does one get regents scholar?

Inflated GPA & Outstanding E.Cs , possibly a bunch of luck as well ( if they like your P.S).

This old thread might help:

Maybe Regents is only awarded to C.C in San Diego area?

^ welllllll. After researching this scholarship, what I’ve decided is that because it is specific to the UC’s, and even more specific to each individual UC, most people don’t know what it is, if they got it or not, or what the rules are to get it. So it doesn’t get mentioned a lot on this site. As an example, in this link: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1327537-2012-official-ucla-transfer-decisions-thread-3.html
look at @kwiqsand’s rejection announcement from UCLA. He was accepted to UCSD with Regent’s as a transfer, but doesn’t mention it on the UCSD acceptance page. He also downplays his hooks which sound substantial.

I’ve seen freshman talk about getting Regent’s, and they’re like: “oh is that what that extra $2000 was on my financial aid? okay…” Because it is grouped in with your whole financial aid package, I think when posters say “I got a substantial grant package” they may have gotten Regent’s and are just not breaking it down.

While this is a confusing subject that takes research, probably for no result since I won’t get the scholarship, it passes the time while I wait to see if I’m going to get accepted at all!!!
