If we didn’t receive any email yet, does that automatically mean that we aren’t accepted?

APPEAL! if you don’t agree with UCSD’s decision and do actually want to go to UCSD appeal the decision UCSD does consider appeals :)

Essay was good ( reviewed at UCI workshop )

Maybe GPA and test scores were the factor. This probably would have been good enough in past years…just not this year.

You have to remember that students with high GPAs and low/mediocre SAT scores have worked hard for all 4 years of their high school career whereas students with low/mediocre GPA and high SAT scores might have slacked off more than the higher GPA student but possibly studied a few months for the SAT. There are some that probably worked as hard as the high GPA student but couldn’t get the grades. That’s survival of the fittest. It really doesn’t matter if you come from a easy or hard high school. You are mostly compared with your peers during admissions.

Remember those of you California residents who haven’t gotten into any of your choice UC’s, if you are in the top 9 percent of the state, they will offer you admission to another school if there is room. It would likely be Merced or Riverside but these are high quality schools. If the offer is made, I’d check them out. Personally, I think community colleges and transferring into dream colleges is fantastic but I also understand how some feel strongly that they need to start at a 4 year.

Here is the calculator. It’s easier to get into the top 9 percent than you might think.

@forlorn - OMG

@ForloneStudent, If this is real, you have a good chance if you appeal. Did you complete all the a-g requirements?
Good Luck!

@turtletime So what is the process if you are in the Top 9? Does being waitlisted count as an offer? If you are watilisted and you don’t get then it’s June 1…is that when an offer to UCR or UCM would go out? If so, by then it kinda already too late.

Rejected.

@sixthyucsd how often does appealing get you accepted? I know I should write about new and compelling information, but what exactly should I write about? Any ideas?

@forlorn, Just saying, but your post seems like a ■■■■■… the high SAT 1 and SAT 2 scores, combined with the great ecs make you a pretty qualified candidate for UCSD. Perhaps, as one person suggested before, you didn’t complete an a-g requirements. Or you’re a ■■■■■…

@ForlornStudent Sorry to break it to you, but the Berkeley Regents invites were all sent out in February.

@ForloneStudent, or maybe you came out too cocky on your essays, and they figured you would not come anyway. Or maybe you never logged into the portal, or set it up, showing lack of interest, or maybe they sent you a supplement and you ignored it.

by the way all regents have already been announced, so if you did not hear, you did not get any regents.

I guess I was expecting the rejection because of my freakishly low GPA that’s significantly underneath the average UCSD GPA and my mediocre SAT score, but it still hurt. :’( Still kicking myself for my horrible sophomore year!! I also got rejected by UCD, but got accepted to Cal State Fullerton and UCR w/ Chancellor’s. I’m still waiting on UCI, too.

@rgosula @annel96
I did get the regents interview for Berkeley so I am pretty sure I did not miss any of the a-g credits (since regents from Berkeley is an auto-accept). My essays were reviewed by multiple teachers so anything that may have seemed cocky was definitely pruned out.
I did not log onto the portal until last Friday so that may have influenced their decisions.

that’s a new one to me - that you have to log on to the portal to show interest - lol. I know they say they don’t do this, but I think its more likely they knew you wouldn’t be coming - I wonder if they could see the cal regents thing.

They do check if you at least log into the portal. For schools that claim to pay attention to interest, this is one way to ascertain interest.

What they do not do is assume because of your high stats you would not be interested.

UC GPA: 4.1
