So recently I got accepted into Revelle majoring in Cogn. and Behavioral Neuroscience. Is this major competitive at all because I haven’t heard of this major quite often in other colleges and if it’s even actually Neuroscience, I know it’s in the name but does anyone have more insight in it?
It’s not administered by the Department of Physiology and Neuroscience (which is in the Division of Biological Sciences), but jointly by the Department of Cognitive Science and the Department of Psychology. You won’t be taking many (if any) bio courses; mostly you’ll be be taking CogSci courses, which are somewhat more focused on the behavioral aspect of cognition than the biological foundations. Does that help?
It kind of does, what does this mean for me if I have goals in pursuing Neurology as a career path? Should I try to change my major?
i got into CBN at revelle too! and i have career aspirations in neurology!! I love the subject so I’m not changing majors. Revelle requires several years of physical/lab science as GEs so I’ll just take them as needed. If certain classes required for med school aren’t in your current major coursework, just add them. Even if you majored in biochem you would still need to take extra classes to complete med school requirements (if you’re going somewhere competitive).
btw, hope to see you there if you plan on attending sd!
That’s great! Ty for info
