UCSD six colleges

well…like the title… I’m sort of confused about these colleges…
are they just for GE’s?
UCSD has engineering school but what’s with the colleges?
I’m really confused could someone clear this confusion (which might be pretty stupid)
would choosing one college be disadvantageous to choosing a major? are they connected in some ways?
thanks in advance
please explain in details, preferably someone that really knows this stuff!

anyone??? so many viewed it but no one could help me???

Check out the following link:

thanks a lot :)

the colleges are just there because...we want to be different.

some GE sequences do help with specific major, like revelles long sequence helps anyone in the pre-med direction.

anyone who wants to get out quick, choose Muir. that's what i did :)

warren tends to be best for engineers...either that or muir depending on ap credits.

:)

karthikkito, what do you mean about muir and ap credits?

Well, the different colleges have different ge's, and as a result, ap's will get you different distances in the various colleges. So saying that one college has more ge's than another may be true, but you should also look to see how many ge's you need to take.

For example, while Revelle has the most GE's, I came in with 72 credits...so I only need 6 courses to complete me ge's here.

:)

which college is the best for philosophy?
im from CT, so I have no idea what to look at.
help, please!
