UCSD Sixth College 2020 Discussion

If you’re reading this then you’re probably like me and just got admitted into UCSD and was chosen for Sixth College. What are your thoughts and impressions on the newest college? What are your plans for freshman year? On campus housing? Bike or walk? Ect

Sixth College was my first choice so I’m pretty glad I got it, I like the focus on innovation, creativity + technology. Not sure if I’ll be attending because I’m still waiting for the other UC’s and Claremont colleges. If I do end up going though yes I’ll be living on campus, I’ll probably walk but maybe bike and I want to learn to surf too. Btw we should make a groupme with admitted students or something

Definitely, a groupme is a good idea. Sixth college was actually my 3rd option and idk how I feel about it right now. It’s location has pros and cons but I guess all the colleges do. And same, just waiting on UCLA

HEYY GUYSS!
Found some potential roomates, lol!
Well I got into UCSD and in 6th College, but it was my 4th choice. Top 3 were: Muir, Marshall, and Warren.
My major is Mech Engineering.
If I attend UCSD, I will be staying at the dorms, and I will most likely bike.
Tbh, the housing isn’t a university feel for the 6th college. I am fine with the GE courses, but the housing there feels like a summer camp. :))
The location is pretty far from the beach and the rest of the campus, and im not sure if I can transfer into any other college, so it looks like 6th FTW!

Sorry if this is a “noob” question, but what is a groupme and how can I get in this “chat”?

Hey, I was also just accepted into Sixth as a Political Science major. Sixth was my second choice, and it seems that the GE’s match up relatively well.
I’ve heard some mixed reviews on Sixth. It sounds like biking is going to be a necessity. As you can see, the housing situation doesn’t look to be the best, with 80% of the res-hall suites being triples ( and at just 12x16!) . http://housing.ucsd.edu/sixth.asp
Like you guys, I’m waiting on some other Cal schools, so we’ll see.

I got in as undeclared. Sixth College was my fifth choice haha. Not sure how I feel about that, but UCSD is my first choice school. I’m waiting to hear back from other California schools too

I agree, the housing doesn’t really resemble your typical college dorms but it seems like the set up makes it really easy to socialize with others so that’s a plus for us freshmen. And while we are far from the beach, we are close to the bus stops and event centers so it kind of evens out. My names Anh btw, hope to see some of you in a few months
