I was accepted to UCSD to Sixth College. However, as I was reading old threads about it, I found out that many people disliked it. Is Sixth College really that bad?

Well I guess it depends on what you mean by “that bad”. What were people saying about it that they didn’t like?

From my personal experience, it really isn’t that bad.

Did you rank Sixth College as one of your higher preferences or did you just get placed in it? It will probably help if you read up on it:

I was also admitted to Sixth (my 1st choice); personally, it seems intriguing and the GE requirements don’t look too bad in comparison to Revelle. I’m not an artsy-fartsy person (so I hesitated at first about the CAT core), but I DO like the idea of the Practicum.

Freaked out over all of the CC posts about “Camp Snoopy” and the “far” dorms too, trust me… been going to sleep at 2 AM reading up on all the pro and cons of going to Sixth.

but after filling myself up with information about Sixth, I really don’t mind too much about getting accepted into Sixth. I was still accepted into UCSD, so I’m really happy! living in a ‘campground’ really isn’t that bad, especially if I’m only staying there my freshman year. I’ve heard a lot of complaints about how far Sixth is compared to the other colleges- but imho, everyone’s lazy. Taking a few extra minutes to get to your class really can’t be that hard.

I got accepted as a Biochemistry major, (I want to go into the medical field, but I don’t feel comfortable placing all of my eggs into a pre-med major… lol.) and I hear the more variety you take as an undergrad (CAT vs. taking straight edge science courses), the more appeal-able you look to graduate schools. I could be wrong, but… really, don’t freak out too much!

take it from someone who’s lost sleep over researching sixth over these past few days too :P

I lived in camp snoopy freshman year and it wasn’t bad - most exciting year of my life actually. I got lucky and had many classes literally right outside my dorm.

I was accepted to Sixth too! I have literally been stressing about it, but honestly I don’t think it will be THAT bad. At least we weren’t rejected. (:

And as for the distance from other places on campus, I plan on bringing a bike, so I think that will solve that problem!

I feel like the whole camp feel will make it easier to make friends and meet people, which is really what I am looking forward to!
