nobody knows anything about Anthropology here?

nuerobiology and oceanography r apparently #1 in the nation.

what about English?

Anthropology=UC Davis

Davis has a good program, but I wouldn't exactly say it's THE UC anthro progarm. The last NRC rankings of anthro programs were:

Rank Institution
1 University of Michigan
1 University of Chicago
3 University of California Berkeley
4 Harvard University
5 University of Arizona
6 University of Pennsylvania
7 Stanford University
9 Yale University
9 University of California Los Angeles
9 University of California San Diego
11 University of Florida
12 University of Texas Austin
13 New York University
14 University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
15 University of California Davis

So Davis, while good, still doesn't keep up with the heavy hitters. Not that it matters at all for undergrads.

Oops UCD has the top ranking for ecology and evolutionary biology not Anthropology. That's what I get for not looking it up and going with my aging memory.

hey how is their political science program? whatz the rank?

Davis? It has a good, but not incredible poli sci program. I'd put it in the top 25 or so.

Nonetheless, I don't think it matters for an undergrad. You should be concerned more with getting the foundation of political science work in, rather than worrying about the limits that a top-ranked department will offer a grad student.

oh i meant UCSD :D
idunno, like wouldn't it be easier to get into a better law school if the school i'm from is higher ranked in that major?

Law schools don't really have time to pore over which schools have the best department in X, Y, or Z. Notice how successful schools like Brown, Dartmouth, and LACs are at getting their undergrads into great grad schools despite their relative non-presence at the graduate level in most things.

I'm thinking of being a econ-math joint major as well as an international relations major, what can you guys tell me about these programs?

no undergraduate oceanography program, for he who wrote of its stellar reputation

economics department is very strong at ucsd. there are also lots of businesses within a 5-mile radius of the school, so you have the ability to make some very good connections

economics is pretty strong too

UC San Diego has been ranked 5th in the U.S. for "Highest Impact" Research in Economics and Business. The 2005 US News and World Report has ranked the UCSD Department of Economics one of the ten best economics departments in the United States.

the math program overall is ranked 17th in the nation

although, the source is a little old...lol

the international studies program is also very strong, with its graduate school being in the top 10 in the nation, holding its rank alongside schools like berkeley and harvard.

ucsd is also very supportive of its students majoring in international studies to study abroad.

Technically, IR/PS is an international relations/management program, which is a tad bit different.
