So I am thinking of working (part-time) on campus at UCSD but usually how hard is it to get a job? How does the process work? Is it like I fill out the application, they ask me for an interview, if they accept me then I just get trained, go to work, get paid, that's it?
How do student get paid and how often? (monthly paycheck?) I don't have social security number, so would it be a problem applying for a job?
Since I am the first year here. Do you guys think it's better to start off being a volunteer first?
I also consider doing an internship too.

Umm, well three of my suitemates have applied for on-campus jobs and have gotten them without a cinch. I have applied for on-campus jobs too though, and I haven’t had as much luck as them … lol. (Just an FYI, we all have some work study!)

My suitemate gets a paycheck at the end of every two weeks. I don’t know about the SSN though.

No. Just go for it. I’m a freshman too.

**An internship!!! I’d drop the job if I had an internship related to my major without an eyelash … that being said … **
