UCSD Students, favorite on-campus restaurants

Where do you like to eat on-campus? Price Center, dining halls, etc?

OVT for late night breakfast burritos. Great and not far at all even if you live in ERC.

Meal points - OVT… best breakfast food ever as StanEda224 pointed out! And Cafe V has fresh sushi which is pretty good.

Non meal points - Croutons!

OVT’s going to have reduced hours next year…

Sierra Summit and Mercado will both be closed for the entire year.

Bummmmer

ive been partial to summit and el mercado; sad to see them close for a year

besides that, i eat greek or at the farmers market every tuesday

try a torpasta

OVT won’t be open until 1 anymore?

I actually loved Cafe V. Grill/sushi/stir-fry were too good

^Yeah, that new Goody’s place is going to be open late instead (according to my RA from last year)

Cafe V was not all that. The stir-fry was good, but everything else gets old after a while. But I guess you ate a quarter less of Cafe V food than I did.

Sushi did not get old, especially with eel sauce.

Where’s Goody’s?

Right across from the Marshall uppers… like where you picked up wristbands for sungod

Oh, was that what they were building during the year? It’s done?

Its supposed to be open next year and while i was taking ss1 it looked like they were almost done. They build things pretty quickly @ sd. THAT TRANSFER HOUSING MAGICALLY SPROUTED OUT OF NOWHERE.

OVT,
you can also go off campus in the Ralphs area, i love Chipotle. =]

el mercado is closed forever, RIP El Mercado. I’m gonna miss my favorite place on campus. I ate there so many times over the years =(

^ seriously, how -_-

Mercado was awesome haha

Only place on campus I can get Horchata

People that have been thru the mill say to get the lowest meal plan, and even then, you’ll have a ton unused.

Does this sound right, or it is nuts?

depends on how much you eat. most the girls i knew had to buy food for most of the guys because the guys all ran out of meal points by may.

I’m exaggerating a bit but I ran out of meal points real quick. Try not to waste money on drinks… They’re so damn expensive and you’ll be cutting out alot of unnecessary calories – essential if you want to avoid to freshman 15.

it’s true. i had like $500-$600 left over at the end of spring quarter, and i had to buy a ton of appliances so the money wouldn’t completely go to waste – fortunately earl’s and pots both have a pretty nice (but like everything else sold on campus, overpriced) selection of stuff to choose from when you’re trying to zero out your account.

and even if you do eat a lot and run out of dining dollars before the school year ends, do not buy more dining dollars - get triton cash instead. it rolls over to the next year (dining dollars don’t) and you can use triton cash at some of the restaurants on campus in addition to the dining halls.

Dining Halls: OVT is generally considered the best one.

Price Center: I usually eat at Subway and Panda Express. TapEx has horrible food but awesome drinks.
