I'm a transfer student accepted for the Fall, majoring in Math & Econ (Muir). As a student veteran, it is commonplace to take a full load of classes during the Summer. Everything I am reading on UCSD's Summer Session page makes it look fairly straightforward for incoming transfers to register for "Session I & II" courses.

Has anybody done this before? Is anybody planning on Summer courses? If so, have you run into any issues? Also, what does UCSD consider a "Fulltime Student" (IE # of credits) for the Summer? This is very important for those using the GI Bill.

Thanks in advance for any advice & info.

First and foremost, congrats on getting into UCSD. I’m in the Army Reserve and am a math major myself. In order to receive financial aid during summer at UCSD, you need to take at minimum 8 units. This can be done as 4 units per session, or 8 units during a single session.

Side notes:
I don’t remember exactly how the GI bill works with summer school myself. Here’s a link to the student veteran’s organization. They’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have: https://www.facebook.com/groups/5954034363/
Lisa Linares, who handles veteran affairs, is part of the group. If you’re in the SD area, her office is in the registar’s office near price center.
