Hey there. So I applied to UCSD and I'm waiting for them to give out their admissions, by waiting I mean pulling my hair out and going insane. Since UCSD doesn't guarantee admission before hand with TAG, I'm getting really nervous that they haven't notified me yet. I found the old requirements for fall 2011 and looked everything over just to make sure that I should qualify for TAG with no problem. So my question is....Is there any reason why my TAG shouldnt be excepted?

I have the 60 transferable units by the end of this spring, actualy I'll have 68.
I have my english and math requirements done.
I have above a 3.0
I have my IGETC finished.

Although on my TAG I said that I would be taking a course in the winter and then the next level of the same course in the spring. But unfortunately the LACC system was insanely crowded and I wasn't able to get in to the course during the winter so I'm taking it now. Also on my TAG I listed a course that I took during the fall but then on my application I listed that I dropped it. My actual application also listed that I would not be taking anything during the winter and that I would be taking my winter course in the spring.

I know that UCSD did not have a mandatory requirement that you complete all major prep(only "strongly recommended") or that you complete the TAG courses listed. But I am worried that because I wasn't able to take the course that I listed during the winter that they won't accept my TAG; and without TAG there is no way I'd get in at all.

Here's the kicker, I'm applying for Biology, which is very impacted. Now I have talked to the transfer counselor and have also talked to the UCSD rep both times she came to pierce, and they both said the same thing: I that could be accepted into the campus but not necessarily into the major which is fine with me. But has anyone else had that happen to them yet?

thanks for the help and sorry for the insane rambling essay I wrote!

UCSD TAG is for the campus only, not major. There are a few threads on here about the quirky nature of UCSD TAG. For now try to relax and leave your hair alone. You will find out soon enough.

Im honestly not sure. I made an error in my TAG as well but they overlooked it I guess because I got my acceptance letter over two weeks ago. Honestly Im not sure…u seem ok but who knows. Since they got so many more TAG applicants this year than they could hold, they might cut people off for the smallest mistakes. But you should be ok.

However if they do reject u, I encourage u to go to their office and try and fight it out. My friend, who did TAG last year, was rejected and went to the admissions office last year to complain. They let him in with little complaint…at least from what he told me. Good luck! And remember u still might have a chance to fight it out if something goes wrong.

(Oh and I also hope u put an alternate major since Bio is very impacted…)

I didn’t put an alternate major unfortunately. But I’m hoping to change my major to chemistry if I get since, since chemistry isn’t impacted. I called admissions and they told me that most likely I’ll get into the campus but getting into biology might not happen.

Hi, I am really stressed because I was submitting my TAG which was mostly complete this evening. I know I should not have put it so late but I was at an ASG conference all day and had kids, dogs and neighbor at my house and was trying to ask them to let me focus. I started at 11 but had a delay in password retrieval, I checked everything over and was submitting at 12:58 but then it popped up I had possible errors since I did not have a current class listed, well yes because I am done!! So I closed that that but another minute passed so I was frantically clicking submit and it said too late…and kept taking me to submit page again. Please someone tell me that I can call and they can see that I was clearly logged in and trying to submit on time. I have already had to get stuck in community college because I changed majors, then the requirements changed and due ot budget cuts couldn’t get classes I needed in time. If there is no way to call or go there so they can see what happened I will be very depressed!! Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately there is no appeal process for late TAG submission. You can apply as a regular applicant. If you qualify for UCSD TAG, you will be competitive for regular admission.
