UCSD Tag/Igetc comp sci major. Math question. For fall 2012.

Looking to transfer to UCSD for the fall of 2012 and at the moment, im scared that my math pre-req are going to hold me back from transfering as i have to complete them by 2011 fall.

Current things complete and current planned schedule.

Semester 1

Trig
Java
Psych 250- was dropped

Semester 2

Semester 3
C++ 2
Calculus - might be withdrawing and retaking as im on a boarderline C
Computer Architecture

Planned semester 4
Calculus 2
Physics

Data Structures

Summer

Calc 3
Physics 2

Semester 5

Discrete Math/Linear Algebra
Econ
Geology.

Not sure after that.

If i drop the math class this semester everything is pushed back 1 semester, so i might stick it out with a C, but am i on track to finish in time to transfer for fall 2012?

Isn’t there a course that combines linear algebra and differential equations?

I think that’s the one he’s planning to take.

And assuming I’m reading this clearly and the summer between semester 4 and 5 is Summer '11, you are on track.
Honestly, you just need to finish IGETC to TAG to SD, you don’t actually have to finish all the pre-reqs, but nice to anyways.

ah. I see so just aim for Igetc + tag first? originally i was taking course towards UCLA, but UCSD has a comp sci program thats on par.

Yep. You’re right. SD and LA’s comp sci program is pretty much the same.

So IGETC/TAG are most important (guarantee admissions but not major), then finish as many pre-reqs as possible. That will give you priority in getting the comp sci major.

thanks =). I wish i started off with UCSD first instead of going for LA i would of been done this year.

i believe the only difference between sd and la Comp Sci program is that SD isn’t impacted correct?
