UCSD TAG: Major Prep Unfinished

Hello!

So my situation is this:

I plan on doing TAG for UCSD (my one and only chance!) and initially I was going to apply as a Linguistics major, but I recently heard about the new Public Health major that is going to be launched at the school in the coming Fall and realized that that is something I'm very much interested in studying. So my question is this: what are my chances of getting into the school if I apply as a Public Health major, despite the fact that I will only have taken about half the major prep classes by the end of Spring 2014?

I am nearly done with the IGETC; I just need one humanities course and a physical science + lab, which I plan to complete by Fall. I am in the process of doing the honors program (I will have the required 15 units by Spring) and my GPA is currently 3.91 (ASSIST Certified Classes only). It's 3.81 w/ Non-ASSIST Ceritified Classes included.

I'm thinking maybe just applying as a Public Health major in my TAG app and listing Linguistics as my second choice when I do the regular UC app. (Which brings up something about the UC app--I had a counselor tell me that there is just one app for both TAG and the regular UC transfer. =/)

Also, I'm a little unsure about whether I've satisfied the two-course English and one-course Math requirement. I took AP English and AP Stats, both of which I 3's for. And I also took English 1B last Fall. Is that enough to fulfill the requirement?

Okay so a 3.91 you can pretty much get into any UC you want to start with,

And as for the AP classes covering the requirements instead of taking 1A and stats I’m unsure so ask a counselor do express counseling at ur college for a quick session.

They’re not expecting you to have everything on Assist.org done prior to coming, in fact very few students complete that and IGETC before transfer so don’t stress that, but to even be considered for transfer you MUST ensure the 2 English classes and the stats or higher math class or 9.9 times out of 10 they won’t even give you a 2nd look.

And the TAG and UC application for admission are to completely different things and with two different filing periods, for the TAG it’s September 1st thru 30th and the actual app it’s November 1st thru 30th I believe.

The tag with UCSD basically is just giving them a heads up that you’ll be applying and that because you’ve met the minimum requirements by the right date and done the TAG you’re guaranteed in as long as you meet the requirements and don’t drop below them.

you might want to contact the UCSD public health people directly to ask about admission requirements. See [Bachelor of Science in Public Health ? UC San Diego](<a href=“Bachelor of Science in Public Health”>Bachelor of Science in Public Health)

As for the math and english requirements, check with a xfer counselor at your school, a UC counselor when they visit your campus, or contact UCSD admissions directly. This one you can’t guess at or take some random person on the internet to tell you; if you don’t meet it you won’t be eligible for xfer and are 100% guaranteed to be denied, so you need to find out for sure whether you have satified it or whether you need to take more classes at your CC.

All right, thanks for the input. I’ll be sure to call in as soon as possible!
