Ucsd tag***please help!

Hello guys,

New member here!

I'm applying for TAG by the end of the month, however I face a dilemma. I don't know where I should TAG to?

I want to go to UCSD, my major being Structural Engineering (SE) which is NON-impacted. My GPA is currently a 3.45 but by the end of the fall semester I can bring it up to a 3.5. I would have taken all my math courses and chem courses by the Spring 2012 (except Physics 4b, which I will take in the summer) and Physics 4c which i will not have enough time to finish.

Now, my question is should I chance it and TAG to UCSD or should I be "safe" and TAG to UCI for civil engineering which requires a 3.2 GPA and civil engineering is NON-impacted as well.

My top choice is UCSD but I am afraid that I won't get in. I am a third year community college transfer and I'm scared that I'm going to have to stay another year if I don't get in :(

Please advise me on what you think would be the best course of action for me to take.

Wait a second. What classes are you taking? If they are easy A classes, then go for it. If not, stick with UCI.

Fall 2011: Linear Algebra, Arabic 2, Statistics, C Programming.

Spring 2012: Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, Physics 4a

You should TAG to UCI as backup. Then apply regularly to UCSD and hope you get in.

I talked to UCI admissions today and apparently other than getting priority review of your application TAG doesn’t really do anything else in terms of a “guaranteed acceptance”.

Well then, the name “transfer admission guarantee” is pretty misleading then.
