Ucsd tag

Hi everyone, this is my first post here but I have been lurking around reading other posts for a while.

I currently have a 2.8 gpa and applied for UCSD TAG. I should be able to raise my gpa to over a 3.0 by the end of the fall. Now, do they send you the agreement before the end of this semester or do they let you know after you have done the actual application?

Also, if I end up breaking my tag agreement and not getting a 3.0, will my regular application be invalid? Or will they still consider my regular application?

One more thing.. Do they accept all tags that fulfill the requirements or is it still selective?

Thank You.

I think you need the 3.0 to sign the contract, otherwise it’s invalid. Anyway, good luck! And if anyone wants to correct me, go ahead!

for ucsd, you need to have a 3.0 by the end of the fall semester and maintain a 3.0 in the spring.

yousifa,
When a UC sends you an acceptance to a TAG agreement, it is under the assumption that you will complete your planned coursework as indicated on your online TAG submission. They will check if it is possible for you to reach the required GPA by the end of fall, and will give you the chance and write an acceptance.

However, if you choose to change your schedule in the spring, and not fulfill your IGETC or something like that, they can rescind the TAG I believe.

Each UC will send your acceptance to the TAG at their own moment of choosing. Davis guarantees this by 11/15; I don’t know about the others. I don’t think they have to tell you if you qualify for TAG before the UC app deadline either.

The TAG is just another layer of your general UC application. If you get TAG for a school, you are guaranteed acceptance if you choose to if you apply. You aren’t guaranteed entry to a particular major though, but generally if you have your coursework done then you get into your major.

As the TAG is just a part of your UC application, you can be denied TAG and still get in, often with a lower GPA than is required for TAG. The TAG is just a way to ensure that your application gets you an acceptance, but not doing TAG makes you just like any other CCC transfer.

Hope this helps.
