UCSD to UCLA transfer credits?

Hello! I am currently a Freshman Political Science major at UCSD looking for places to transfer, as I am not very happy where I am. I am a bit confused about the transfer policies for political science. For the major at UCSD, we are required to take 3 intro classes and a class called “Political Inquiry”, which as far as I know deals with computer stats. All the rest are upper division classes. At UCLA, it says to be admitted as a poli sci major, we are supposed to complete “four [intro] courses from political theory, world politics, political economy, American politics, or comparative politics” and a statistics course. Would the political inquiry class count as the statistics course? And if so, would I have to take an extra introductory poli sci course at UCSD to be considered for the major, or could I take the class at UCLA?

Also, I currently have 40 units, not counting AP credits. I think (?) I have 32 units of AP credit if I added correctly (AP Eng Lang and APUSH/AP Euro count as 8 units, right?). That is already 72 credits. Is it too late for me to even apply? Will I have too many units by the time I am a sophomore?

Thank you so much for answering my questions!

You can only transfer as a junior.

Is this regardless of haw many credits I have? What if I have junior standing (as a second-year)? If I have too many credits, will I not be accepted?

@transfertobmc: Applications open for Fall 2018 Transfers in August. You need to have the required courses for UCLA by end of Spring 2018 regardless of the # of credits you have. Only 70 units will be transferable even if you have over that amount. Get a UC to UC reciprocity agreement for the GE’s so you do not have to take any GE’s at UCLA. Look over the descriptions of the Political Science requirements for UCLA and try to match them to UCSD’s courses. An alternative, is to take the remaining courses for transfer at your local CC and transfer from there.
