UCSD Transfer 2014 Waitlist?

since it’s rather unlikely for them to give us any answer during the weekend, i guess it’s hundred bucks down the drain to for that backup SIR… was hoping they’ll tell us today so I wouldn’t have to spend that much money :(

Didn’t know where to ask, but how do I actually decline admission to UCSD? I kind of kept it around just in case I had a change of heart, and I’ve completely forgot about school for the past 2 weeks or so. I am trying to decline UCSD offer, but the only choice I have is to accept.

@jonjon03‌ You can call the admission or email them. But if you don’t submit your SIR until June 1, they’ll assume that you decline the offer.

does anyone find it odd that the first day for decisions is on a Sunday? do you guys think they’ll send them out on Monday instead?

@movieguy‌
I suspect the same. They will probably start sending out on Monday, not over the weekend.

@darren808 I think so too. However, I am not sure if they will send out only one batch or multiple. Does anyone know?

@AlmostPeace‌ They usually send out by several batches, since not everyone in each of the batches will accept the offer.

Anyone know for sure what UCSD looks at in a waitlisted student? GPA only? Or are essays considered too?

I’m hoping to be accepted into ucsd. It’s my final hope…well darn it we’re in the home stretch I just hope I can make it home

@kyle2015‌, what do you mean your final hope?

@Bhav007 I think he means that all the other universities he applied to rejected him.

@darren808 you know dude…i’d totally like to know that myself as well. I really hope they look at the small 200 word essays we wrote as well…because this is my last coin flip…if i don’t get tails…then its time for me to “head” home with my tail between my legs…

either that or make a last ditch effort at ucsb…

@kyle2015 did you get accepted to UCSB?

@CollegeDropout1 No they rejected me due to me getting a C grade in math 102. BUT…they said if i sent them my spring grades on appeal and proved to them that my grades were good and that i could pass math 115 (statistics) then they would most likely offer me admission. This spring semester i will have 3 A’s and 2 B’s. My math class will be an A. So i more than proved their previous judgement of me false. So i most likely would get accepted. At least i hope…

@Kyle, what was your GPA before spring? By the way, it sounds like you have a great chance at UCSB.

@CollegeDropout1 3.28-3.33, yeah i feel i’d get into ucsb. But i really feel like i’ll get the nod for ucsd…i’m really hoping i can get into ucsd. Btw i heard you got into ucla! Thats an awesome school man you must have a 3.7+ gpa, congrats on that man.

Honestly, 3.28-3.33 is really pushing it for UCSD. Did you apply to any other schools?

@Kyle2015 Thanks! My GPA is actually lower. It was 3.45 before the spring, now it is 3.67. Your personal statement can make a huge difference. It sounds like you have a great shot at UCSD, don’t worry!

@CollegeDropout1 Thanks man! And wow…3.45 aye? well your personal statement must have been great. I really thought my personal statement was amazing but…i guess the UC’s didn’t think so. But thats great to hear your gpa didn’t stop you from getting into UCLA! You have a great school to consider even if you don’t get into ucsd…but i’m sure you’ll definitely get in.

@CollegeDropout1‌, I was thinking that, but then I thought he should’ve got into at least another UC like Davis or something if he got waitlisted at UCSD.

@kyle2015‌, I Hope you get in, man! Last year’s was like a 69% acceptance rate for UCSD transfers, which is good. Hopefully, this year it’s similar or higher!

“Waitlist - 2,700 waitlist offers went out; 898 students opted in; 623 were admitted; 472 SIR’ed”
