UCSD Transfer 2014 Waitlist?

I have a 3.83 gpa with major in Nano Chemistry before this spring, and now increased to around 3.85…but still pending now. Really confused, hope I could get in.

@sherry119 do you have any overseas university experience? my gpa is 3.7 and still pending too. i sent them email and the overseas university record really matters a lot.

@DanielDu: Were you rejected or went to wait-list?! I have a similar situation, they rejected me first, but they’re taking a look at my application again.

@bolandgoo‌, so you got them to look at your application? Nice!!

Ugh! I’m desperately wanting the second batch to be today! I’m so nervous though I’m convinced I didn’t get in, I just want to know

@bolandgoo im on the waitlist. so did you appeal or did you do something else so they took a second look at your application?

@bhav007: Lol yeah, finally! at least my application is going to get a full review for once! If I get rejected after that, it’s fine!
@DanielDu: I didn’t provide my foreign transcript during the application review process, so I got rejected…then I appealed and said I have the transcripts now, but they rejected my appeal…I “re-appealed” and now they’re looking at it.

@bolandgoo‌, “re-appealed,” that’s like over level 9000 lol

haha I know!! my immediate admission counselor was such b*****…the lady I’m talking to right now is so nice she really understood my situation. I’m not putting much stock into it though, I’ll see what happens…
David or UCSD for you?lol

if i have to apply next year, do they keep an record for me? will they check my old application?or i can start a brand new application. cause if i have to apply again i really don’t want to mention my overseas university record that influence a lot

Anyone get the offer today?

Guess we won’t c a decision till nxt mon

I wonder how many people pulled off of the waitlist have actually SIRed.

Seems like even on this thread there r some ppl who don’t seem too enthusiastic about SIRing

@Cdelta Yeah, I’m not very enthusiastic. If I SIR, I would have to give up UCLA.

@DanielDu Yes I have been in an university for a year and half back in my country.

I’m really enthusiastic to get in! Lol. Ucsd is the #3 best uc campus out of the 9 UCs. It’s ranked 39th overall in the world. It’s ranked as the the #9 public university in the world. And it’s known as a public ivy. I also believe it’s biology or engineering program is ranked 3rd best in the world. UCSD is truly an amazingly phenomenal elite institution. I really would love to get in. Although if I got into ucla, I’d probably choose ucla…but it’d truly depend on which university had the best results for my major (sociology) and also where I felt the best at. Remember ppl, Don’t only consider rank and prestige. Also consider which university has the best program for YOUR major and also most importantly which campus YOU feel most comfortable. Good luck and wish everyone the best in their decision making!

@DanielDu‌ If you plan to apply next year, they will still have your record… I have applied last year but withdrew the application finally, because I decided complete more basic classes at community college. I thought they won’t have my previous record, but actually they do! When I check the uc’s website, there is two options, fall 2013 and fall 2014.

@bolandgoo Did you talk to the admission office by phone or face to face?

@bolandgoo‌, I’m most likely going to Davis. It’s like 80% UCD and 20% UCSD; originally UCSD my top choice, but idk what happen, I guess the extra money from Davis is convincing me (6000 more offered) and because I will be closer to family events that happen. The reason why UCSD was my top choice was because of the high Computer Science ranking and the surrounding area. It’s ranked 15 vs 34 for Davis, at least for the grad school ranking. But, if grad ranking is good then undergrad ranking should be the same or very similar. However, it’s still is important that I do good in my classes wherever I go (and that’s what makes getting a good job); this is why I started drifting to Davis as well.

I have to decide today. If I suddenly get more convinced in the hours remaining then I will SIR to UCSD.
