So I got denied admission to UCSD in the past couple of days and I decided to appeal. I already submitted my appeal earlier this week and was wondering if anyone else did too! We can keep each other informed on when the status of each others portals change

Major: General Biology
TAG: No
IGETC: Done
Basis of appeal: Grade change that would affect overall GPA.
Is there anyone in the same boat? Or did anyone already hear back from their appeal?

We have completed the review of your appeal. After a thorough review, we are not able to change the application decision. We recognize that this is disappointing news for you. Please be assured, your application received multiple reviews in order to reach this decision, and your appeal has now received two additional reviews. Although the University of California has established minimum freshman and transfer admission requirements, the number of applications to UC San Diego far surpasses the space available; therefore, students admitted to UC San Diego must exceed the minimum admission requirements. Whatever alternate approach you may take to continue with your education, we wish you the best.

When did you submit your appeal? Do you mind me asking what was the basis of your appeal?
I submitted my appeal on April 13th and heard back around the last week of April. My basis was how I was going through a difficult time during the end of my junior year regarding my grandma’s death and how it affected my schoolwork. I got back on track senior year and received Student of the Month awards. I also talked about how I became captain of my tennis team senior year, winning MVP, and president of my community youth group. I was hoping it would all be enough to reverse an appeal but I guess not
@badmintongirl In my opinion it does seem good enough to reverse your appeal, I can’t believe they didn’t accept you. I’m sorry! I hope you have other options for schools You can always try going to a community college for two years and apply as a transfer to UCSD if you’re set on going there. I believe in you! haha.

@jl10777777 I heard the success rate is 1-3% depending on the school, and I feel like UCSD would be like 1%. When did you submit your appeal?

@Solstice1 Did they notify you? My portal no longer says that my appeal is being reviewed; it only says that my waitlist spot has been reserved. Does that mean I was rejected?
@ttop220 No they didn’t notify me, I just kept checking everyday and finally it updated and told me that they weren’t able to reverse their decision Depends, were you initially wait listed or rejected?
@Solstice1 Sorry dude… And I was initially waitlisted.
@ttop220 I dont think that means you’re rejected. They say to not appeal if you’re waitlisted so maybe they just didn’t even bother with your appeal?
I just got in off appeal. I was originally waitlisted and I checked and my status now changed to the welcome letter from UCSD and I was able to submit my SIR

@triton3000 Did your portal consistently say that your appeal was being reviewed? And congrats! Mine said it was being reviewed and then all of a sudden it changed to the waitlist confirmation.
yup, up until today it had the message about how the appeal would take 3-6 weeks and then suddenly it changed to the welcome letter. I didn’t know if I had gotten in off the waitlist or from appeal but my letter says I was admitted on appeal
