Lemme get this straight... transfer students are only allowed to dorm in the Village or get an off-campus apartment? (I know its a bit early to ask housing questions but I'm very curious.)

That means if I'm transferring to UCSD, and I become an ERC student, I won't be able to dorm at ERC D: ..? I will be applying as junior status, and I was just wondering if this is true. Because one of the reasons why I wanted to go to ERC was their dorms and how the international housing is also there ><.

Is this normal for most UCs or does only UCSD have a seperate dorm for transfer students?

Your answers will be appreciated. ^^

Ah okay I did a bit more searching and now I feel stupid. The village is not a dorm its more like an apartment. And the village is located at ERC or at least near it…

I would still like to know if its possible to dorm in one of the 6th colleges though.

Also if theres no other option, any opinions on The Village? From what I read, no one really said nice things about it yet ><.

I live in the Village. It’s a nice place to live in and the RAs are flexible in regards to partying in your apartment. Of course, some parties do get out of control and they have to break it up in order to regulate the rules. It’s really easy to meet people if you make an effort and the location is convenient. You have your marketplace, laundry room, and Cafe V/OVT is a walk away if you’re up for some dining hall food.

Overall, I like living there.

The ERC housing is only for freshmen and sophomores, trust me, as a junior transfer you won’t want to live with people much younger than you.

I-House has its own application process and anyone from ANY college can live in I-House, provided they apply and get in. You don’t have to be an ERC student.

You won’t be able to live in any of the other 6 colleges - all the on campus housing is for freshmen and sophomores. Transfers have the Village, I-House, or an off-campus apartment. And I know someone who lived at the Village and it wasn’t that bad! The apartments are new and nice, they’re just expensive.

Wow! Thanks for your inputs guys, I didn’t know anyone can apply for the international housing, although the village sounds great too. Thank you so much ^^
