The part that most people are worried about:

Scheduled to open fall 2009, the Village at Torrey Pines West will house more than 1,000 transfer students. Estimated room rates (including a meal plan) range from $1271-1410/month.

Quite the expensive rent. Anyone considering it?

I was just asking a friend of mine from UCSD and he says it is a grouping of towers(with balconies) that actually have views of the beach/ocean…nice!!

i’d split the $1300 amongst 2 other friends if i get in. there’s no way i’d pay $1400 for housing… that can pay for a 3 bedroom apartment around here !

Dude you’re going to get like at least 15000 in free grants. That’s EFC is extremely low. Congrats. In fact if this Blue/Gold grant thing they just added this year comes through, you might get a free ride.

EFC i believe stands for estimated family contribution? i havn’t been admitted yet but i’m keeping my fingers crossed as its my #1 school. if you submitted your FAFSA, it should tell you your EFC online.

and @ kkiji: wow, 15000. that’s a ridiculous sum haha. I don’t think the blue/gold grant thing will pass though.

it means your EFC “Estimated Family Contribution” towards your college is 0, which means out of all of their inputed information on FAFSA it computes that you have no money for college, therefore you will eligible for a lot of financial aid.

heck yea! im not alone. maybe we’ll be able to get into those dorms afterall if what youre saying is true about the blue/gold thingy is true. is it true for all UCs??

im cogsci major and ucsd is top ten in that dept so i would be really psych if i get in.
props for choosing biology man, how are you able to handle all the terminologies, that take some ridiculous amount of effort.
