UCSD Transfer Housing Thread

I’m pretty sure it’s true for all UCs, but it’s so new that no one knows *** is going on with it. We’ll have to wait and see. At least I’m very certain we’ll get at least like 15000-16000, if anything it’ll be closer to 20k because of the SMART grant for science majors.

Yeah it does get kind of annoying. No matter how well I can comprehend stuff, it won’t help me when I’m taking bio, oh wells.

I’m going for experimental psych grad school at UCSD after undergrad though, behavioral neuroscience. Hopefully cogsci as well, they got a dual doctorate program.

We’re technically in the same field then. :)

mine is 2600, and the award estimators put me at between 14k and 18k, depending on the school.

i think you’ll be in good shape.

pinkerfloyd what do you mean by award estimators?

I think he means this: http://studentresearch.ucsd.edu/sriweb/UCSDCollegeProfile.pdf

Somewhere on that PDF there’s a link to an estimator where you input your info and they tell you around how much you might get.

oh, my efc is like 200…so ya…hope i get lots of grant money!

I’ll probably try and get a job in LJ anyways.

thanks kkiji! if anyone else wants to see, it is here

looks like if this calculation is correct i’ll be getting something in the low 20k’s

oh and since this is the ucsd transfer housing thread, thought you guys might like to know that I sent an email to the “Village” rep. asking about the rooms. I didn’t know if they were singles, doubles, or triples…(or all three). so yeah…

Ooo you should send them an email complaining about the price, I’m going to right now.

i’ll email as well, although i haven’t received a decision yet

imo think we should wait until the “official” price comes out before complaining about it.
I mean they’ve already lowered their estimate a couple times, i wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up costing just as much as the normal on campus housing.

It’s very possible that they’re lowering it because so many people are complaining. :)

good point… in that case, lets complain away!

@kkiiji
I haven’t even thought about grad school yet haha. Good luck hopefully we both get in. which college in ucsd is your first choice? I chose mine randomly and somehow my first is revelle. Lol.

Finally theres someone with “technically” the same major as me haha. I chose cogsci because it was a major that I met the most prereq, luckily, lol. I sound like the worst student right now. I found out this week their ranking for cogsci and its better than ucla or cal, and I wanted to go to cal…(wanted). Now ucsd is my first choice.

Guys, pass the housing email so I can complain too.

i got 0 for fin aid :(

@iamlegendary: the link to e-mail them is

Thevillage@ucsd.edu

kmzizzle, me too :-/

My college of choice is Revelle because its GE reqs are perfect for bio majors. I think cogsci is pretty damn interesting, you’ll probably love it.

By the way am I the only one that curse uncontrollably when seeing this?

did you finish IGETC?

how are these rates compared to other ucs?

@sstory: I’m taking the last art requirement right now for IGETC, thus I qualify for TAG.
