UCSD TRANSFER WAITLIST 2018

@smugguy90 take a look at the waitlist threads from previous years, it seems people have. not sure what they were told in terms of when they would be notified though …

@plsletmegraduate will do!! Thank you! Good luck in your quest.

@plsletmegraduate same, imma say a couple prayers and wait till mid may lol

@suprimo319 oh I hope they take mercy on us! haha

If I don’t get into Berkeley (very likely) I’m going to visit Davis and UCSB and then if I don’t get off the waitlist before the SIR is due then I’m going to pick one and SIR.

@hailey5799 hey sorry I’m such a stalker but, I noticed you’re at DVC for poli sci! So am I! I’m in the same boat as you, rejected at UCLA, waitlisted at UCSD and vacillating between UCSB, UCI and Davis. Are you going to Davis Decision Day on the 11th?

Waitlisted.
Cogn. Sci.
3.57 (will probably dip this semester).

If I don’t get in I guess I’ll have to go to Irvine!
Does anyone know exactly how the waitlist works?
Like I know if there’s a spot available it’ll be offered but how exactly do they determine if they’re going to offer you admissions?
Sorry. I’ve never done this before. Lol

CCC transfer, International Student

Political Science-International Relations
GPA: 3.73
Pre-reqs:complete
IGETC: finishing this spring

Just so confused and upset by the waitlist. I guess I’m going to UCSB.

Do the final semester grades impact their decision to take people off the waitlist or do they just have some pre determined order?

I found this link… I don’t know if it’ll answer your question but it sounds like there’s some predetermined order and no real way to increase your chances

I am just curious how many people were waitlisted

@Alexandr2356786 there’s no concrete statistics since UC’s don’t publish this information. But there’s this from a couple years back that can give you some insight on previous years’ statistics

@plsletmegraduate
Thank you!! Good to know. Feel much better now

Waitlisted for Econ 3.5.
Not sure if I’m going to take the spot as my heart is (almost) set on UCD!

Waitlisteddddd
Major: Computer Science
GPA: 3.35
IGETCI: done
missing a few pre-recs though

Honestly, comparing my stats to my CS majors (AKA MY COMPETITORS lol) idk how I was even offered a spot on the waitlist, but ya know, just happy to be considered at this point lol

Sammeeee! I saw someone in my major get straight out rejected with a 3.8 and I have a 3.5 and I’m missing some prereqs sooooo I was like??? But hey I’m happy! @Suzeee

I totally feel you! did you see that dude with the 3.94 in CS???
Anyways
Major: Computer Science, second major:
GPA: 3.55
IGETC: lol nah
Requirements: done
EC: literally worked at google machine learning wtfff

@lovelei @rdll123 IM GLAD IM NOT ALONE HERE
3.94 gpa guy made lose all hope lol.
Though I’ve heard if your gpa is too high for certain schools they’ll reject you because they know you won’t attend. And for CS, a 3.8+ puts you in a good position for UCLA and Berkeley so it’s a pretty smart decision on the admissions board’s part to not accept those students and give those spots to people who will likely actually attend cough cough like us plz cough cough

Yeah I got waitlisted too…
Pretty stoked all these people with High GPA’s got waitlisted…
Anyways I will list my stats

Major : Science and Medicine in Sociology
GPA: 3.88 When applied (3.8 now)
Course Work; finished my first semester
IGETC: finished Fall 2017
Major GPA: 4.0
Essays: 9/10, seriously spent like 3 months on them.
ECS: Eagle Scout( easily like thousands of hours for the city of LA and Orange county), Volunteered at Skid Row a couple of times(not to impressive), Worked a couple of months as a Pharmacy Tech at age of 17, non-profit hospital volunteer, and alot more, just cant bring on the top of my head
Awards: United States Senate, Certificate of recognition from specifically Kamal Harris, Secretary of State , award from my city, improved runner at a cross country meet for a significant time, honestly I didn’t put all these awards, I only put the ones that I thought were impactful to my life, and there are more awards that i prob dont remember.
I couldn’t get Deans list cause I all my semesters besides this last semester and this semester I been going to 3 community colleges and they only give it if you have like 12 units in the college, so its like yeah…
Applied to: UCLA,Cal, UCSD, UCI,UCDavis, UCR, UCSB
Admitted: UCI, UCDavis(Regents Scholarship- pending, even asked me to apply for the leadership one but meh, i want regents more), UCR( regents scholarship), UCSB
Waitlisted: UCLA, UCSD, and I just know Cal going to Waitlist or reject me tmmrw

Best of luck everyone…

I was trying not to be too bummed because I got into UCLA and I know how hard CS is to get in anywhere but for family reasons I had basically already made up my mind on UCSD ahead of UCB and UCLA, and when I got into UCLA with the 3.94, I was like alright UCSD should be a lock haha. Nahhh.

I’ve read that bit about some qualified students not getting in due to them trying to keep their yield rates up, hoping that’s the case! Just seems like a lot of people got waitlisted. Hopefully they’re quick and we start getting in! Good luck guys!
