ucsd transfer?

i was wondering what would be a competitive gpa for ucsd fall 2012, i wont be able to tag and i can get my gpa up this fall to 3.21, any thoughts?

UCSD = 3.5 GPA for TAG buddy.

IGETC completed.

first of all it depends on your major. mind telling us that?

major is econ for ucsd

u have a good chance then. 70-80 percent

nice, is econ not as impacted as the other majors?

im gonna apply to UCSD then

uckitty, are you en econ major too?

no i am poly sci major.

personally i think UCSD is overrated. for those who never been there or experienced UCSD/SD life, what is your motive for going?

This year they accepted transfers with 3.8 and above without TAG…So I don’t think you have a good chance tbh…at least that’s what the admission officer told me

because San Diego is awesome. Have you experienced UCSD/SD life that you make that comment in every thread where UCSD is involved?

I’m an econ major who got accepted this year and 3.21 GPA doesn’t have a good chance. I know econ is not impacted major but 3.21, without TAG isn’t good enough for ‘good chance. 70-80.’ More like 20-30percent.

The admission officer told me the same thing: They’re planning on accepting people WITHOUT TAG with a 3.8 or higher…honestly, not to be pessimistic but not a lot of people have 3.8 or higher. A good percent might have 3.5 and higher… I think you have a nice chance…not going to say you’re in…but maybe 50% chance.

The whole 3.8 thing or higher is a terrible rumor. My bf got accepted into a bio major without IGETC and with a 3.5gpa.

do you think a 3.2 for a non impacted major with igetc completed will give me a good chance for ucsd?

No.

Hey. Your major is NON IMPACTED. So you’re at a good start already. Your GPA is not bad but the TAG is 3.5. Who knows what the cut off this year would be for UCSD. I think you have a good chance but it depends on how many people apply to your major. Best of luck  and ignore some of the rude people answering this thread. Let me know if you need anything :)

AND I AGREE WITH ANA. Its true. A lot of people last year and this year will get in with below a 3.8.
