I'm a poli sci major and I want to eventually go into law school, I got accepted into all three of the above schools. I was wondering which should I go with, I'm not too keen on the pre-political science endeavor at UCLA and Cal admitted me for the spring semester not the fall semester. My major at UCSD would actually be poli sci (public law). So would that have a big impact on law schools? Any advice at all would be wonderful! For law schools I'm going to shoot for Ivy League law schools.

Personally, I’d go with Cal.

Really investigate “law school” admissions, and the hiring potential, because you need to have options in case you need a change of major. UCLA, then Berkeley and UCSD.

Okay, I’ve ruled out Berkeley. I was accepted to all three but Berkeley admitted me for the spring semester and not the fall. So it’s between UCSD and UCLA. I want to go to UCSD I think, but at the same time I am worried that UCLA’s name will have an impact on me applying to law school.

Name has very little to do with law school admissions. The only things that really matter are LSAT score and GPA.

A 4.0 student from CSULA will almost always beat out a kid with a 3.8 from UCLA all other things held equal.

That is not to say that the name of the school does not matter at all. if you had a marginally (less than .1) lower GPA compared to someone from a lesser school, and all other things were equal, you might have an edge over the other student, but that really depends on the mood of whoever is looking at your application.

Another factor that does have some weight in law school admissions is URM status, but you can’t really do anything about that.

If you’re dead set on law school, it becomes a thing of personal preference, otherwise, choose what gives you the most options if you change your mind.

UCSD has really good political science professor as one CCer went to UCLA for undergraduate and UCSD for graduate school. I’ve heard one lecture so far and I was impressed.

Cal! It has prestige, it is competitive and lastly its awesome.
