I applied to UCSD as a ChemE major and was initially wait listed. Today, I got an email saying I had been accepted as Undeclared in Warren college. How difficult would it be to transfer into Chemical Engineering (or any engineering) if I chose to accept? I have already put down a deposit at Michigan State University, where I was accepted in as a ChemE major, but I would prefer to stay in California. Would it be better if I just went to Michigan?
No one really knows how easy or hard it is to transfer into one of the undeclared majors at UCSD. I haven’t seen any stats online for ChemE, but I’d guess that it’s one of the easier (lol) departments to get into since it’s less coveted than, say, CS or BioE. It’s a gamble, so keep in mind that if you do come to UCSD the odds are higher that you end up in a non-engineering Department of Chemistry major.
