COMMENTS

I really appreciate anybody who read all of this! I can't believe there's so much! Then again, they're all pretty not important (the ECS). My mom always told me to focus on my studies, not on my ECS, should have listened to her...

I don't know where I'm likely to go to college, and I'm so stressed out!! I though I was going to do well in senior year, but my grades are killing me right now because I slacked off during 1st quarter!! I currently have all B's right now and A's in science research and orchestra. But, I think I'm going to get all A's and B's in 1st semester (the grades that show on my transcript) except a C in Government AP and Calculus AB/AP. Will I get rejected because of my fall in senior year?? I heard somewhere that you have to maintain a 3.0 average GPA during senior year, but i'm not too sure... And it would be great if you could approximate how many points i would receive based on the ucsd point system. i've done it myself, but i could be a little biased (as everyone else is) and could have awarded myself more points than usual...

Anyways, please chance me! I pinky promise to chance back anybody who chances me, and I don't break my pinky promises!!

good luck to all those applying to ucs as well!
go class of 2011!

hmm no replies… dont worry i shall reply! lol!

[ucsd score](http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pKB1yD5iQn_8wqH5bhMkhZw)

this is for UCSD—

[Ms. Sun’s UC Admissions Blog - UC Application Know-How #2: Picking Your Major](Error)
read this to see how the application process works for the other UC’s…

im sure the mid/low tiers you are def. in [for the UC’s]
for the upper UC tiers its a high match-match i want to say… i dont know much about the rest…
one question is the 4.4 ur UC GPA?
if not, use this to calculate UC GPA:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-general/1038133-how-calculate-uc-gpa-guide.html

capped the bonus points at 8 (as thats what all UC, except Berkley and LA do)

I’m class of 2014 and I had UC GPA of 4.1, unweighted of 3.8-9, SAT 2070.

Hardly any EC’s and I got into Boston College. I think that’s where you’re going.

^^
aww, thanks radishrp! it’s good to hear some positive feedback! I really like both schools, but I’m really nervous because BC notifications are sent in 2 weeks!!

If you already applied to all those UC schools then my following comments is moot: UC system will admit you to the “lowest level” UCs you apply to, they see what campuses you have checked. Probably better to list your top two and see what happens otherwise message to them is that you’d be okay with any UC. So… I predict they’ll admit you Irvine and Santa Barbara and of course Riverside, but the top three may be tough. Best of Luck.

^^
wait, is it bad if i applied to too many UCs? OMG!!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY “LOWEST LEVEL”??? Please help anyone? I’m kind of scared now…

im not sure what he means by lowest level, and as i am applying to UC’s too, this seems quite strange. i personally dont think it works this way but once again you shouldnt put too many UC’s because 1) they may not pertain to your major and 2)its added sots and fees.

but go to this:
[ucsd score](http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pKB1yD5iQn_8wqH5bhMkhZw)
and calculate how many points 1) you think you deserve and 2) how many points you SHOULD desire- ie. give points conservatively. don’t add points if you think that you might not get it (happens to the leadership, and stuff like that)

but if you do not mind- can you please recheck you GPA (only for 10-12) im not sure if its UC GPA or not. * remember UCSD caps AP / Honors points at 8 extra points

the goal is to get above 7800! if you can do that you will most likely be admitted (once again not 100% positive) and 8000+ is beyond and “literally a match”

@SunDiego

That’s a total ****ing lie!!! The UCs don’t know which ones you applied too. Don’t listen to them luckycharms07, you’re fine. It doesn’t change your chances to which ones you’ll get into.

thanks $kingselite$!

i’m kind of relieved now! i was really worried at first… i heard that some people post falso info on this site though-is it true?

@spatel23

i did the ucsd score thing and got about 8130 points-but i might be a little biased towards myself…

my uc gpa is 3.72, so total: 3720
sat scores X 0.8, so total: 2760
classes beyong minimum (i don’t know how this works, but i took lots of extra classes), so total: 450?
ELC: none TT, so total: 0
Educational environment: live in rich area TT, so total: 0
low income ($40,000 a year-pretty poor), so total: 300?
First generation: dad from usc, so total: 0
leadership (above), so total: 300
special achievement/talent (above), so total: 300
community/volunteer (above), so total: 300
academic prep program: none, so total: 0
special challenges: none, so total: 0
TOTAL: 8130

is this about right, though?

^There’s plenty of people who post false information on here. Not always on purpose, but I’ve seen tons of very misinformed people. As with all forums, nothing is absolute. If you’re ever really in doubt about something, official university websites are generally a good place to look. I’d like to think I’m a reliable source of information, but even I can be wrong. But anyway, I heard that the UCs don’t know which others UCs you apply to from every admissions person I talked to on my UC visits, so you can trust me on this one.

luckycharms07
i would cut 150 off leader ship - just to be conservative… UCSD might look differently, but to be conservative cut 150 off… ur still above the 7800 supposed cutoff and above the “safety” 8000+ line. you have a a very good shot at UCSD!

but once again this all depends on what you put on the application and all… if you know what i mean :P

What are my chances of getting into csuf, have a 3.31 gpa, already got admitted into csudh, gonna have 2 ap classes on my transcript, and other activities?

^ ^
wrong board, but I’d say you’re in. Then again, I have no experience iwth csuf

@spatel23

thanks! for my app i listed:

work: Noonoppi (1)
coursework other than a-g: science research (all 3 years, more spaced out that way) and speech and debate (4)
volunteer and comm service: best buddies, church homeless feedings, NHS (tutoring), private music concerts (at theatres and elder homes), hospital volunteering in labor and delivery (5)
awards and honors: CA state science fair, president service award, science category awards (combined two in 1 section), Southern Youth Music Festival for piano, Yale Science and Engineering award (5)
EC: 1st chair oboist, church student council, cure club, cross country, pediatric service association club (5)

and why should i cut 150 points? the ucsd score site said that full points are given to students who have been at least 2 high positions of something (for me, leader of church student council, president of cure, and vp of pediatric service association-3). does ucsd grade differently?

luckycharms07
nice ec’s awards ,etc!
the reason why i said cut the 150 off is because i read on some other post that the full 3000 comes if you are in the student body, etc. im not sure how this would fit in. i personally also cut 150 points off because i only had “President” and “head Chef”–but this was due to the post i had read earlier, where it was talking about the student body ,etc leadership s… once again im unclear 100%, but since you have a good enough score, im sure the 150 wont kill you :p

spatel23,

ok thanks! yeah, i know being asb president is like the biggest leadership role, right? and yeah, there are a lot of clubs in my high school
so, more clubs=more club presidents, right?

what do you think of everything else though? are all the points right around? also, what exactly is ELC? i know you get one of the special letters saying you’re guaranteed a spot in a UC, but is there anything else besides the letter to get points for the ELC section?

luckycharms07.
ahh the ELC letter: its eligibility in local context. so in your school, if you are the top 4%, the UC’s recognize you and give you direct admission (of course upon completion of their eligible req. SAT/ SAT II/ A-G, etc)// so if you have ELC you are “favored” in a sense because the acceptance rates for ELC students in much higher. take UCB or UCLA, they have about a high 20% acceptance rate, but with ELC it becomes a lovely 60%. also you are guaranteed admission into the middle and lower tier schools (all except UCB, UCLA, UCSD- but chances are high) .

but yeah. top 4% = ELC! no other way,

oh classes beyong minimum - i was going to comment on that, but i forgot. so 1. do you have a 4X4 or a 6X4? you just added up all the grades you have (so 20 A/B/C’s in A-G courses = 20 A-G courses)
if you have above 40 than you get 500 points! and i think if you are below you get nothing?

for the special achievement or talent section- you should get full points,. but i can’t say what the UC admission officers will do…

but other than that i hope we both get in and i see you there!

Honey, I don’t see how you wont be admitted.
Now just B R E A T H E…

ok, thanks guys so much! now we just have to wait, sigh… :)
