Okay, I have a heck of a dilemma. I got into UCSD and now Cal Poly for MechE, as a transfer student. I really wanted to go to Cal Poly for the longest time, as my goal was to get a good start in the industry after graduation. I also had a heck of a time getting in as a transfer.

The problem is, cost is not a factor at UCSD. My GF's dad is loaded, and he is promising me to pay for an apartment for her and I near UCSD if I attend, as well as tuition not covered by FinAid. I am very sure he wouldn't take back his promise, because this cost is nothing to him (he's Really loaded). He wont help if I go to slo, because he wants his daughter to stay close to home and such.

As much as I want Cal Poly, I don't know if I should go there or "follow the money" and go to UCSD. I know that the CSU system is having problems with class overcrowding, cut classes, and all that stuff. I also don't know if I want to go to grad school or not.

I also don't really know how hard it is to get a job right out of college, what with the bad economy and all. I have the idea that it might be a good idea to "wait it out" by going to grad school if there is a shortage of jobs.

Any advice would be appreciated, as I don't know many engineers personally, or anyone that might have good advice for my situation...
