I’m having difficulty choosing between these three colleges to attend next fall. All seem like great options, but I wanted to hopefully be able to get some insight from people in these programs on things like the education programs, job fairs, weather, graduation times, ease of getting classes, and life at each school (hackathons, social life, etc.). I do live in California, so UCSD would be in state for me while both UIUC and Tech would be out of state. I was accepted into Warren College for UCSD, so G.E.s should be fine. For SD, I was admitted to the Jacobs School of Engineering, for UIUC, I was admitted to the College of Engineering, and for Tech, I was admitted to the College of Computing.
I got accepted to UCSD and Georgia Tech as well and am unable to decide between the two.
I got accepted for Engineering Undeclared at GT (which is what I applied for)
At UCSD, I applied for Bioengineering but because it is hugely impacted I was accepted as undeclared in their engineering school. (I was accepted into Muir)
I want to study either Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, I haven’t made up my mind yet.
I honestly do not know how to decide where to go.
Is it difficult to get into Bioengineering after a year at UCSD
Am I better of at Georgia Tech?
How is life at Georgia Tech?, that is one of my concerns.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Scratch UIUC off the list for weather and lifestyle reasons. Regarding the other two, I would pick the most affordable. Ga Tech is a tech university, so it won’t have the range of majors and students that you would have at a comprehensive U like UCSD. It is 70 percent male. It is in midtown Atlanta so a great location – no beach obviously but there is a nice park a few blocks away, plus loads of businesses nearby where you might find an internship. It really depends on what type of experience you want.
Thanks for the response and the help! Both are at a comparable price point, despite me being an out of state for Georgia Tech. I’ve heard great things about both and even though I haven’t visited tech, it seems like a great school based on your description. My sibling attended SD, so I have a better understanding of the college, but he attended for a different major and I don’t know about their CS program.
