UCSD vs. Hampshire College

Hello

I'm a high school senior who is planning on studying International Relations with a double major or minor in Economics regardless of which school I go to. After my undergrad studies, I plan to go to law school. Currently, I have received acceptances from UCSD (Muir College) and Hampshire College. I would like to get input on which college I should prefer and why.

Thank You In Advance!

p.s. I would also like to hear anything and everything you have heard about the two schools (gossip, rumors, tips, etc.) so that I may gain a broader/well-informed perspective on both schools.

I have personally never heard of hampshire college. However, UCSD's international relations emphasis in poli sci is ranked 6th in the country according to us news, and overall political science is ranked 7th. UCSD's econ department is ranked 10th in the country according to us news. Your major and minor would both be top ten programs, which is impressive. But again, i dont know much about hampshire college, so i cant comment there, but personally ucsd seems like the obvious choice academically. But also remember to choose a school that fits you, socially as well as academically. UCSD's location is also excellent, in (la jolla), which is located within san diego, on the cliffs above the beach. Socially however, UCSD has a reputation of being academically rigorous, and not a particulalry fun college experience. Lots of science types who like to study all day and night. But if location and academics are important, UCSD seems like the obvious choise between these two colleges.

ucsd:
poli sci- ranked 7th in the country
(international relations emphasis- ranked 6th in the country)
econ- ranked 10th in the country

These schools could scarcely be more different...

Hampshire = small alternative artsy; New England; 5 college exchange with UMass Amherst Smith & Mount Holyoke; Very individualized and independent.

UCSD = beachy So california, large UC...

Which envornment is appealing to you?
