UCSD vs NYU

Yeah, I know this question gets old, but I really would like some help and input from you guys!

For UCSD, I'm in Eleanor Roosevelt College as a Psychology major. I will have about $10,000 left to pay each year if I go here, not including loans. People say it's UC Socially Dead, but I'm not too worried. I like meeting people and hanging out with them, and I'm sure other people would like to do the same. I'm not much of a party-er anyway.

For NYU, I'm in the Core Program of Liberal Studies. I'll be studying in London my first year, then NYU for my sophomore year. The first two years will be me GEs and then I'll transfer over to the NYU school of my choice. I will have about $20,000 left to pay each year, not including loans. I'm not too concerned over the lack of campus, and I'm sure I'll have many connections if I go here.

I am very interested in studying psychology, and may go the medical route. However, my dream is to write for film/TV. NYU, of course, is famous for that, but San Diego is near LA! I've read many articles, and I believe it's not necessarily the education (although that's very important) but the experience of working in a studio that'll get you ahead. I think I can get a great education at either of these schools, but I'm having a really hard time choosing.

I really hyped up San Diego for me because I thought I was going to go here. Perfect weather, friendly people, and above all, a lower cost of living than NYC. Comic-Con and Sun God! :)

NYC has more culture and better nightlife, but I feel like I would just be too broke to do anything. Also, much smoking. (I don't smoke.) Smaller Comic-Con, but more art and shows.

I know many people don't realize the debt they're getting in until it's too late. I don't want to make the same mistake.

So most important things to consider:
Which school would be good for getting into the entertainment business?
Cost of living....I like to shop and eat guys.
Which city is better for having spontaneous fun? I almost never make plans and would really like a city where I can just go out for cheap, spontaneous fun.
School debt. I'm terrified.

I think that's everything. I will have to send in my Letter of Intent in two weeks. Please give me ANY opinions before May 1st. Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

Ucsd. Nyu is not worth 40k more.

I agree. UCSD sounds the better option for you, both professionally and financially.

I think UCSD is the better option. It’s cheaper and you’d have good access to opportunities (the same as you would get at NYU).
