UCSD vs. Occidental College

So I have narrowed down my college choices to UCSD and Occidental College. I know that these two colleges are completely different and I am still having a hard time deciding. I got into ERC College at UCSD and also got a $10000 acadamic scholorship from Oxy. I have decided i want major in Biochemistry or Bioengineering but applied undeclared to both schools.

Can somebody please give me input soon as i need to make my decision in the next week or so. I am totally confused and could use all the help i can get. Also can somebody tell me if ERC is actually the rite college for me. I'm a 17 yr old boy from the Bay Area, California.

Thanks a lot, I reallly really really appreciate it.

How much does it cost to attend UCSD? If I had a choice, I would attend UCSD because of the better atmosphere and education.

There is a significantly higher happiness factor at Occidential especially socially for freshman is input I have heard from guidance councelors and students attending both. Academically both are great schools.

Occidental if you like lots of interaction and smaller classes.

Just based on the few people I know at either one, Oxy tends to have a happier lot of students.

UCSD based on academics, especially if you want to major in math/engineering/sciences/poli sci

Poli sci gets a second mention. Great dept.

i'd actually go with ucsd on this one, 10k scholarship definetly calls for going there, especially when oxy costs more than 30K.

I would also pick UCSD over Occidental College.

ucsd for sure, especially for biochem. and its thousands upon thousands of dollars less, and an excellent bio program.

i think you would be alot happier at occidental. and the "ratings"? disputable. oxy has incredible academics, and with grad school, you will be able to get a higher gpa and everyone there does research as an undergrad, and internships. and everyone is so involved it is awesome.

"Also, remember that the weather in SD is typically warmer than in LA."

Where on earth did you here that. SD has significantly cooler weather in the summer than LA and very slightly warmer weather in the winter.

Yeah, I feel that UCSD has a better bio program w/ more funding and research and stuff, but there is this 3-2 bioengineering program that Oxy has with Columbia where u get a BA from Oxy and BS from Columbia thats seems quite attractive.

hmm....

People say silly things on CC.

I heard that in UCSD, you sometimes get lost in the crowd and at Oxy, you start feeling clostrophobobic after a while because its soo small. These things true?
