As an undergrad, what is a better choice for computer science engineering: UCSD or Santa Clara University?
Is there a cost difference? Santa Clara has the advantage of being in Silicon Valley. UCSD is well respected too.
No Cost difference due to grants.
Nice. DD was admitted to SCU 5 years ago for CS. I’m still salty that she chose to go elsewhere. According to family that lives in the Bay Area, SCU grads do very well in recruitment. I would choose it over UCSD, although UCSD has a great reputation as well. SCU will have smaller class sizes and you’ll get more attention from faculty.
SCU received a massive donation to their engineering program a couple of years ago. They’re building a new engineering building that will open early next year. STEM - School of Engineering - Santa Clara University
These are excellent points. Thank you very much…very helpful.
When it comes to getting a job, it won’t matter whether your degree says UCSD or Santa Clara. Beyond that, see if one of the schools offers a specialty track or set of classes that you’re interested in and that the other school doesn’t offer. Otherwise, go to the school that you like and feel more comfortable at.
